Research agreements and contracts

Applied R&D and technological development at the University of Vigo is increasingly carried out in the initial stages through collaboration with other agents from the innovation system, basically enterprises. In this sense, we can distinguish two methods for carrying out R&D&I activities:

Tailor-made R&D: an enterprise or organisation entrusts the university to carry out a specific R&D Project. It proposes objectives, assumes risks and pays for costs, and finally gets the results. Such activities are formalized through contracts.

Collaborative R&D: project partners pool in their resources, share risks and objectives, and distribute ownership of results. Such activities are formalized through a contract or collaboration agreement.

In both cases, organisations can seek public funding for their R&D&I activities.
