Technologically based companies

University R&D spin-off companies are those that have been created through the initiative of one or more members of the university community. These companies exploit the knowledge and technologies generated by University research and contribute to economic and social development by boosting progress and generating wealth.

Such spin-off companies are furthermore considered as Technologically Based Enterprises (TBEs) since their activity is mostly based on emergent technologies that are modern and innovative.

The University of Vigo has undertaken to establish its own R&D spin-off companies and has entrusted the Research Transfer Office with a series of services in order to facilitate transfer of technology and knowhow. The following are some of these services:

• Advice on how to present applications for creating TBEs at the University of Vigo.
• Analysis and report on the application of the university’s research results, namely; ownership, technologies and knowhow to be transferred, and whether project is transferable, its valuation, etc.
